Take Good Care of Your Thyroids!

Now as the old saying go, you can't take care of someone else until you have taken care of self first.  Well, that's a true statement.  I'm here today, to share with you an article by one of my good friends Therese Prentice. January is Thyroids Month.  Like myself and many others out there, I struggle with my thyroids from fluctuating weight gains to feeling tired all the time.  Below is the entire article; I hope this helps you as much as it did for me.  She offers healthy products to keep your house clean without the chemicals and foods that you can eat to keep your thyroids healthy.  Be blessed by reading this article and share it with your family and friends......

Nourish your thyroid

Your Thyroid needs various nutrients to produce thyroid hormone. Iodine, zinc, selenium,
copper, manganese and the amino acid tyrosine are all needed for the production of T4 and its conversion to T3.  Remember, too much iodine can cause hyperthyroidism.

How to detox your thyroid
  • Remove all toxins from your home and diet ie. harsh chemical cleaners, use green products (thenutritionaldiva.com)
  • Drink plenty of filtered water (Fiji bottled water is a great bottled water brand)
  • Consider avoiding gluten – There is a very strong link between autoimmune hypothyroid and gluten intolerance.
  • Cleanse your Colon (Clean Start - thenutritionaldiva.com)
  • Follow a liver detox plan regularly.
  • Do a heavy metal detox.
  • Include sea vegetables in your daily diet - the most popular sea veggies are kelp, nori, hijiki, wakame and kombu. They contain a variety of minerals and vitamins that support thyroid function.
  • Eat more radish, watercress, other leafy greens, squash, carrots, broccoli.
  • Avoid eating excessive amounts of cruciferous vegetables including raw cabbage, broccoli, kale and cauliflower if you have an enlarged thyroid as they contain substances that may interfere with iodine metabolism in the thyroid.
  • Improve circulation with exercise
It is a common belief of doctors that once you have a thyroid problem, and have to take thyroid medication you must take it forever but that is not always the case. It is my experience that many people who have some form of Thyroidism, the root cause is by a weakened Spleen. Often times when you strengthen the Spleen as the underlying cause then your thyroid function can be improved. It is under your control. Detox your thyroid and strengthen your spleen and feel the difference. (I have a Spleen protocol for you)

You may have heard the words “Holistic Nutrition” before, but most people don’t really understand the phrase. Just what is it and why is this type of nutrition so important?
