FAQS about Baby Diaper Cakes and Beyond by LaTersa

I wanted to stop by today to give you a complete list of frequently asked questions about Diaper Cakes at Baby Diaper Cakes and Beyond by LaTersa.

Q. What is a Diaper Cake?
A. This cake is unique in its own way.  It is not edible and it is made of diapers and other needed items for the new mommy. (ex.: receiving blankets, bottles, bibs and etc.)  Diapers are a must have for at least the first three years of life.

Q.  What kind of diapers do I use on my cakes?
A. I use Luvs size 1 (8-14 lbs) diapers.  Sometimes, I use baby swaddlers.  For my Eco Friendly diaper cakes, I use 7th Generation.

Q. How long will it take you to receive your diaper cake.
A. Please allow me three days from the date of purchase to bake your cake.  I accept orders from all over, but for those of you outside the United States, use the custom forms to send me an email with your address on it, so that I can calculate your shipping cost.  At that time, you can determine whether or not you will proceed with ordering from me. All of my cakes are made to order. I ship with USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days).  Time may vary depending on where you live.

Q. How can I get my cake sooner?
A. Faster delivery time is available for an  extra fee. (Overnight mail).

Q.  Do you use tape or glue on your diapers?
A. Absolutely not, I want the prospected mother and father to be able to use the diapers once disassembled. All of my cakes are held together using ribbon only.

Q.  I live in the Pittsburgh area. Can I pick up my diaper cake?
A. Yes, you can but if its a hassle, I will be more than glad to ship it to you.

Q. What is your return policy?
A. I am most confident that you will love and adore your diaper cake, but if for some reason, you are not satisfied with your diaper cake, you have 10 days from the date of purchase to get a full return or diaper cake exchange. Cake must be in its original packaging.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. You can cancel your order up until the day it ships out.  Once your cake is shipped out, you can not cancel your order. Please contact me via email.

Planning A Baby Shower Soon!

Are you or someone you know planning a baby shower in the near future.  Well here's a few more tips to help you plan the baby shower of the new mom's dreams.  Baby showers are one of those types of  party that everyone will attend at least once in their life time.  This event is a special one for the new mommy. This is where family and friends get together and bring gifts and great food to help celebrate the new bundle of joy's arrival.

First things first, you want to contact the new mom to find out what is her ideal baby shower and what she expect to gain from her baby shower.  This is where you will ask the new mommy whether or not there's a particular nursery theme she has in mind.  What are the colors she plan to use in the baby's room.  Make sure to gather all of the information that you need in order for this to be a smooth transition.

Next, consult all family members and friends on the guest list. You want to schedule the shower during the weekend so that any and all out of town guest will be able to attend.  Always make sure you consult with the new mom to see who she does and does want to attend her shower.  Once you have the names and list of people attending. This is great time to send out invitations. I would suggest you send the baby shower invitations out two months in advance, so everyone can make plans to take off or travel arrangements.

This should be a fun and special event for your guest and the new mom.  Plan your menu accordingly.  The best types of food for a baby shower would be things like chips and dip, finger foods, and fruits (Lots of fruits). You want to always keep in mind that the new mom do not need to or want to get sick at her own shower, so PLEASE keep all hot and spicy foods away.

If you really want to have fun, brings some games for everyone to enjoy.  I know for my baby shower, one of my favorite games was when everyone pull a lot of tissue from the roll so that they can guess how big my stomach was.  Another cool game would be saying words that go with the words baby shower. For example, someone would say baby shower, then another person would say, diapers, and etc.  If you need anymore suggestions or game ideas, just leave me a comment, and I will surely get back with you as soon as possible.

Great Tips on how to use vaseline.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to stop by today to see how you are doing and to give you some great tips on how you can use vaseline.  I can remember growing up as a little girl in the rural south of how my mother always used vaseline for everything. I mean everytime we were out of something or just needed something for one our many boo boos that we got on a daily basis.  My mama would always say, baby just one minute let me get some vaseline and it'll be o.k. after while. So, let me share with you the ten things i use vaseline for.

1) Vaseline can be used as lotion. I remember when I was a little girl, if we ran out of lotion, we would always substitute it with a little dab of vaseline.  I mean you might be oil and shiny for a minute, but I guarantee you would not be ASHY.  To be honest with you, sometimes, I still use vaseline instead of lotion because it just seems to hold the moisture better.

2) Vaseline is used as hair oil. When you don't have any more hair grease or any moisturizer, vaseline always comes in handy.  But, because I have chemical in my hair, vaseline by itself is a little too thick for my hair.

3) Vaseline can be used as chapstick or lip gloss.  Vaseline will help keep your lips from cracking and it will give you that shinny gloss look that I like when I wear lip stick.

4) Vaseline can be used on a baby's bottom to cure rashes and to keep their skin soft.

5) It can be used to remove make up (especially when I wore mascara). Back then, I didn't know anything about make up remover. All i had was my grandmas and mama with the old school remedies.

6) I use vaseline now when i can't get my ring off my fat fingers sometime, I would rub some vaseline on it to make it slippery.

7) It can be used as pressing oil for your hair. When i was a little girl, with all the thick hair i had, vaseline would take the place of your regular pressing oil if you ran out before finishing.

8) Vaseline can also be used as a base for when you getting ready to get a relaxer. I know this is my all time favorite. Because I tend to burn sometimes, I pack on the vaseline around my edges.

9) I still use vaseline over my eyebrows to give them that finished glowing look once they are freshly arched.

10) Vaseline is also a great tool for arching your eyebrows when you can't get to the salon.

5 Tips to becoming a better and healthier You!

5 Tips to becoming a better and healthier you

I must say being your healthier and better self is very important in every way.  Earlier in my twenties, I was very good at sticking to a dieting regimen and eating no later than or after 8PM.  Well, as your body changes and you get older, you have to find new regimens that work for your current body.  I have come to understand my body a whole lot more than when I was younger and before I had my two beautiful children.  With that being said, things are a little different now.  I think we as mothers are so caught up in taking care of our babies and husband, that it can really be easy to forget about self. But, I'm here to share with you 5 simple things that you can do to become a better and healthier you.

1) Get regular physicals and pap smears.  I feel that in order for your body to run its natural course and be in its best shape ever, you must see your doctors regularly and at least once a year.

2) Review your health benefits regularly.  Talk it over with your husband and make sure you have the best plan that works for you and your entire family.  The one thing you don't want to do is enroll in a plan that is not covering everything that you need. Sit down as a family to discuss your health problems or concerns and see if there's a plan that covers your specific needs.

3) Exercise daily.  This can include just walking around the block or within your neighborhood.  For those of of who have kids, you can run up and down the stairs or go outside and play with them and that is a great workout for you and the kids.  This will allow you to burn some of those unwanted calories.  Also, its healthy for your whole family to play and exercise together.

4) Eat family dinners together at your dining table.  This is one of the things that I try to make happen on a daily basis. Even though some evening we don't achieve it because of other obligations.  But, this allow you and family members to sit amongst one another and fellowship. Ask each other about the kind of day they had or just eating a healthy meal together.  I love having family meals with my husband and children.  I guess for me, I always had that as a kid growing up and I wanted my children to experience the joy that had as a child.

5) Smile.  This is one of my all time favorites.  As a little child, my grandmother (the late Carrie Tyler) always told me to smile gal and the world will do just that smile right back at you.  But, on the other hand, if you frown, the world will frown right back at you.
