2011 Featured Successful Women in Business-Trakelia Jimerson

Full Name:  Trakelia Jimerson
Name of your Company:  SnackHealthy
Position: Brand Partner
Website Address:  www.blissfulsnacks.com
Year Founded: 2010
Tell us about yourself and your business: I am a single mother of 2 that was looking for a way to make money and make my family healthier.  I did not want to sell something that just focused on vitamins or juices but something that gave us a variety.  That is when I was introduced to SnackHealthy.  The concept blew me away!  We live in an era now where everybody snacks.  The traditional sit down at the table meals are slowly fading away.
What inspired you to start a business? My children. I have to lead by example.  If I tell them they can be whatever they want to be and encouraging them to live their dream then I have to do the same thing.
Share one business goal:  I would like every school and sports activity participating in our fundraiser program.  This will help promote healthy eating in the schools as well as in the community.
What would you say contributes to your success?  My passion of wanting my children as well as myself to live a healthier life

What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur?  Live your passion. Don't ever give up just because you do not succeed the first time. Live is a journey not a destination.
Anything else you want to mention about your business?  I am currently sending out samples to those that would like to try the snacks.  I am also looking for others to join my team and help spread the word and change the way we snack as Americans.

2011 Featured Women in Business--Kelly Green

Full Name: Kelly Green

Name of your Company: Insider Branding Secrets

Position: Owner, Personal Branding Strategist

Website Address:  http://InsiderBrandingSecrets.com

Year Founded: 2009

Tell us about yourself and your business: I am a Personal Branding coach for small business owners and new entrepreneurs. I spent 15 years as an integrated and brand marketing executive in the music business. During that time I developed marketing and promotional campaigns for recording artists to get them national exposure and maximum CD sales. Now I’m bringing some of those same techniques, strategies and resources full circle to my company in order to empower my clients.

What inspired you to start a business?  After I was laid off, I knew that I still wanted to do marketing because I liked seeing the creative process unfold. But I also wanted to have more flexibility, freedom and less stress. I decided to get certified as a Wellness Coach and began to work with people to make better lifestyle choices. As I got more into my business, I realized that I was not only helping people to reframe their thinking around their health issues, I was helping them to redefine their Personal Brand. My clients had lost sight of who they were before the illness and I was coaching them past those obstacles. I then married those years of marketing and branding skills with my coaching training and started Insider Branding Secrets to help other new entrepreneurs define & develop their Personal Brand.

Share one business goal: My goal for this year is to do more speaking engagements. I like speaking to groups of people and actually seeing the moment the light bulb comes on for them. There’s also a certain energy that only happens when people are face-to-face and realize that they are not alone on this entrepreneurial journey.

What would you say contributes to your success? I would say that being visible on as many different platforms as possible has been a big factor in growing my business. I attend live networking functions, connect with people through social media, write articles, blog and I’ve joined business groups to further my personal and professional development. A lot of the things I learn about my business and goals, I am able to pass on to my clients.

What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur? There are two things I always say to new entrepreneurs. 1) Determine very early in your business who your target audience is. Once you know who you’re talking to, all of your other marketing efforts will fall into place. Knowing who you’re speaking to will save you a lot of time, money & frustration. And #2) Do not wait until everything is “perfect” before you begin your business. Start where you are with what you have. You can tweak the process as you go along.

Anything else you want to mention about your business? I am preparing for my 6-week tele-class series “Insider Branding Secrets to Becoming the Expert” which starts March 29th. 2011 Featured Women in Business--Jamie Flemings

Full name: Jamie Fleming

Name of your Company: Mocha Writer, LLC

Position: Founder & Freelance Copywriter

Website address: http://mochawriter.com

Year Founded: 2009

Tell us about yourself and your business:
I’m a writer and blogger from GA. Admittedly, I’m somewhat of a work-a-holic, but in my spare time, I love to read, do my nails, spend time with my loves and just enjoy life.

Mocha Writer is a freelance copywriting service specializing in creating fabulous content for small, women-owned businesses and working with other small businesses, start-ups and individuals. I write copy for blogs, newsletters, articles and more. Additionally, I run a women’s lifestyle blog, for colored gurls.

What inspired you to start a business?
Honestly, I started my business because I couldn’t find a job in media after I graduated from college. Writing has been a passion of mine since I was little, and I knew it was the career I wanted to pursue. However, since I couldn’t find a job, I decided to create a career for myself instead of waiting around. Now that I’m doing this, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I really enjoy helping people achieve their business goals.

Share one business goal: My primary business goal is to help other women and entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and goals with my services.

What would you say contributes to your success?
Determination. This journey has not been an easy one, but I think the fact that I’m persistent and haven‘t given up has made me successful.

What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur?
If it’s something you really want to do and you’re passionate about it, don’t give up. It might take you a long time to get where you want to be in your business, but if you’re determined and persistent, you will get where you want to be.

Additionally, don’t be afraid to dream big and go after whatever it is you want in life.

Anything else you want to mention about your business?
I have a blog based on my business, Mocha Writes. The purpose of it is to help people succeed in both their personal and professional lives.

If anyone has questions about what I do, feel free to contact me: Jamie Fleming [at] mocha writer [dot] com.

Warm Regards,
LaTersa Blakely
